Visualizing the evolution of a company in the digital space

BRANDING ~ UX DESIGN ~ ILLUSTRATION

Content marketing agency Message Lab experienced rapid success since it’s launch in 2018. Despite it’s steady growth, the company lacked an established brand. I was asked to help visualize the new Message Lab “2.0” in 2023 and together with the Creative Director (and the help from our valued colleagues in the editorial and strategy activation departments), introduced an updated brand identity for the company.

  • Message Lab’s mission and values remained the same but were more concretely set in stone. Message Lab 2.0 was a refresh and an upgrade to what already existed, so we wanted to emulate that visually. We decided to echo the original identity, keeping the logo and refining the existing color palette instead. We introduced a new primary typeface, PP Editorial, which was a typographic nod to the company’s origin in journalism.

  • We wanted to draw back the curtain behind what Message Lab does, and educate the reader through both words and visuals.

The illustrations were inspired by architectural blueprints and focused around one key structure, the content. Each department: editorial, creative, and strategy were then illustrated as various elements, building or extracting from the content, creating something unique. It not only visualized what good content looked like, but the necessity to use all three aspects of what Message Lab provides to produce a good product.

  • The most important platform for the updated brand identity to be seen was on the website. In addition to the redesigning the website, we updated all the marketing collateral, including internal and external decks and documents. The social media accounts were also updated with new assets.
